The New Way Of Running A Personal Training Fitness Business With A Membership Model

If you are like the majority of sole trader Personal Trainers, you are probably running a business model where you charge your clients per session.  This has been the typical model since PT became an actual thing.  I remember starting on this model way back in 2000!

But just because something has always been done a certain way doesn’t mean to say we have to keep doing it that way!

Charging per session keeps you financially capped and it limits your impact. This can be extremely frustrating, especially if you are the type of personal trainer who wants to bring in my more income, experience more flexibility in your schedule and of course impact more people.

Many female personal trainers leave the industry prematurely because they are burnt out, frustrated and not making the money they want.  That sucks.

In this video I share with you how to move your current ‘session for money’ model into more highly valuable one using Membership levels.

The 4 Key Steps To Creating Your Membership Model:

I cover these in more detail in the video but if you just want to get an overview here’s what you gotta do:

1.  Write a list of ALL the things you do for your PT clients (typically these are all the admin tasks that you do outside of your PT session).  Add a monetary value to each of these items

2.  Create tiers – think about how you can categorise your deliverables into different tiers.

3.  Choose a price point for each of these different tiers.  The top tier or level is going to be your most expensive package and they will decrease in price as you drop through the tiers.  Having a variety of price point or package options allows for you to cater to a greater range of budgets (meaning you can service those who can only afford $20-$30 per week up to those who can afford to invest hundreds per week).

4.  Switch it up.  People don’t really like change, so you need to create a 4-6 lead in time to change the model of your business.  There are actually 4 steps to this part, ranging from the ‘soft launch’ of the idea to the execution date.

I know that it may seem scary to switch up your PT model, however if you want to have longevity in the game, you need to find an approach that is rewarding and sustainable!
